Dog Bite Statute
North Caroline does not have an official Liability Stature like other states due, but does have separate laws applicable to it. If a dog causes damage to another individual’s property including defecation onto property the owners are liable to fees up to $500 and in some cases can be up to $600.
Dangerous Dog Statute
North Caroline has a semi-vague Dangerous Dog Stature which applies to
- A dog injuring an individual other than the owner causing significant damage such as biting or worse injuries such as broken bones.
- A dog attack local wildlife such as squirrels, chipmunks or birds
