Dog Bite Statute
Dog owners in Virginia are responsible for all damages if their dog injures or bites a person. Under the condition that the person must be on the owners property when the injury occurs. Provoking the dog to attack is the only exception to this law. The owner can use lack of knowledge if he does not know that the dog is vicious to defend their case and limit the actual expense of the damages.
